NASA iPhone
OK, this is exactly the sort of thing that this blog pretty much has to post:
The students received a $2,500 cash prize from NASA after they wrote a winning paper in a space systems engineering contest. My favorite part of this is that, basically, NASA gave some students a prize for coming up with a good justification for the agency spending government money to buy iPhones, which I completely empathize with.
The paper focused on the benefits of using the iPhone in NASA ground operations during inspections and pre-launch buildup for launch vehicles, beating out six other schools' projects from around the country.
In addition to the cash prize, the students' project won them the opportunity to attend a NASA launch, something that Samantha Vaitkunas said made her feel "like a proud mama."

Unboxing Day
There are many sets of unboxing pictures out there far better than the ones I took, but I think that this one pic at least gets the message across.
It's amazing, by the way ... simply amazing.
You Can Call Me Al
Why? Because it's Sunday and I felt like it and it's good and it is my blog after all.

No iPhone For Dave
That picture above was the first of many tries I made this weekend to get an iPhone, all unsuccessful.
Actually, when I took that picture, standing in line at the AT&T store in Decatur, I was still undecided. I really wanted to see the thing first.
I finally had the opportunity to do so the next morning. And -- wow.
There was a fully functional demo at the AT&T store nearest me -- functional to the point I was able to make a phone call from it.
And it is far cooler than anything you have seen or read can do justice. Simply amazing.
I'm not even going to recommend buying one. Just go touch one. Lay hands on one. Play with it. And then decide for yourself.
