Like you, I tend to only buy CDs. And only buy actual “CD” CDs, not downloads of albums. Hell, I still even buy vinyl when I get the chance. The only “single” song I’ve bought in years was a few months ago when I needed a copy of “Cinnamon Girl” right then to learn how to play it and it was the one song I don’t have on any of my Neil Young albums. (And how long has it been since Billy Corgan and Smashing Pumpkins were relevant to the music scene?)

There are still plenty of groups out there like The Flaming Kips and Radiohead where the album concept is still alive and well and I hope it stays that way. I’m still very much an album person. In some ways, to me, the way people use iTunes and other services is like buying random chapters to a book.

As for where I’d like to see the music scene in two years: I’d definitely like to see it focused on the album. Specifically, my album, which will have gone at least double platinum by then and will be in the process of sweeping the world, changing society much in the way Bill & Ted were meant to with there music. My music would be a solution for everything from global warming to the coming robot apocalypse.

I’ll be bigger than Bono and William Shatner’s egos put together….

I vote for albums. Good question, as to whether or not there is really a cohesive concept left in albums nowadays tho. I guess that less serious popsters can release their i-singles, and the more professional artists can continue compiling albums. I hope.
